MrsJanitor’s Aus-Some Tour of SFO / SJC

Well I just got my itinerary for my trip to Sunnyvale for the Juniper Ambassador’s Summit in October and my wife and I have decided to spend an extra couple of days either side to get out and see the sites. We will be arriving in San Francisco at 11am Sat 5th of October and flying out around 11pm on Friday 12th, and we are looking to fill our schedule!

This is my wife’s first trip to the US, and I know she wants to get out and about and see things (also probably while Im in conference too). I know her list includes seeing the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz… oh… and… “The Full House House”.

Thankfully we have the company of two of my good friends who are locals – Ashton (from Juniper) and my old work mate Cooper Lees, and we are working out “what we should see”.

So what do you consider “must see” things in this area? Let me know in the comments and we will see what we can fit in.

Also, while we’re in town, I would love to catch up with any locals in the area for drinks/coffee/food etc so again, let me know πŸ™‚

Hey Kurt — if you go to Alcatraz I fully recommend the night trip. It’s eerie and it’s the only time they open the hospital (where the birdman and Capone were kept).

I’m taking my wife and daughter to the bay area in early November. Definitely will be heading to Harry’s Hi-Life in SJC for the best ribs. We’ll also be taking a drive to Santa Cruz and down to Gilroy to the Premium Outlets, plus we’ll walk down the main street of Palo Alto. Also, in the past I have done the San Francisco segway tour, which is a blast, and the Computer History Museum in Mountain View.

Hi Kurt, I’ll be in town that same week! The drive up and down highway 1 is scenic. Monterey is pretty cool, as is Half Moon Bay. I also generally just like hanging out with a few friends in SF in the evening to have drinks in local establishments (Mission district is fun). I’ve always wanted to go north of the city and do some hiking, but haven’t done that yet.

If you go to Alcatraz, let me know how it is. Or if you organize a group outing, then I’m in πŸ™‚
